Callum McGregor is delighted to be the latest Celtic star to have his play celebrated in song.

Over the last month or so hoops fans have realised that there’s no one better than Callum McGregor with the midfielder scoring a vital goal against Bayern Munich in midweek.

This year has seen the midfielder become an increasing influence on the Celtic side with the happy knack of coming up with big match goals.

Most fans would have McGregor in their first XI with the home grown bhoy thriving off the backing he is getting from the fans.

Speaking to Celtic TV he said: “Hearing the song gives you a bit of a lift in games. You know that the fans are right behind you and that just breeds confidence to get out and play my best football.

You try to block things out but things like that (his song) you take notice of and it’s a good thing that the fans are singing a song about me.”

After his goal against Bayern McGregor will be hoping to keep his place in the starting XI for tomorrow’s match away to St Johnstone.

If Brendan Rodgers’ side avoid defeat they will set a new British record of 63 domestic matches unbeaten but full points will be the requirement.

After the trip to Perth McGregor will join up with the Scotland squad and is expected to make his full international debut in the friendly with Holland.
