Stuart Armstrong is looking forward to being reunited with old friends at Pittodrie tonight.

A decade ago the Celtic midfielder was trying to impress at Inverness Caley Thistle with Ryan Christie and Graeme Shinnie also involved in the set up.

Tonight’s Scotland match against Holland is meaningless but will give the Inveness contingent the chance to get together in the same colour of shirt.

Speaking to The Sun Armstrong said: “It is good to see Shinnie because I have known him for a long time. He is a good guy and a good player.

We played against him a short time ago and although the game was comfortable in the end for Celtic, I thought he put in a very good individual performance that night.

Christie? No I don’t like him! He is another boy I have known for a while.

His dad Charlie used to take one of the Inverness teams the year below me, so I have seen Ryan about for a good few years and he is a nice friendly face. I am close pals with him and it is good to have him in the team.

When he was training at Celtic he was very good but sometimes competition there can be high.

It was important for him to go and get games. Now he’s showing what a quality player he is.”

Caretaker boss Malky Mackay will bring in a number of new faces for tonight’s match with Christie and Shinnie in the starting XI.

Christie will be the main source of interest for Celtic fans with the attacking midfielder getting the chance to play alongside some of his hoops team-mates.

Aberdeen face back-to-back games against Sevco at the end of this month giving them the chance to create real daylight with the struggling Ibrox outfit.
