Kristoffer Ajer has admitted that he is considering a loan move in January.

The 19 year old has made half a dozen Celtic appearances this season but with Rodgers hoping to bring in a new central defender in January further opportunities could be limited.

Last season Ajer made a big impact on loan at Kilmarnock with the main condition of that deal being that he played in central defence.

Getting as much game time as possible playing in defence would accelerate Ajer’s development with the Norwegian expecting to discuss his situation with Brendan Rodgers in the near future.

The transition window opens on January 1, so I’ll talk to Rodgers and hear what is the plan,” Ajer told Aftenpost.

“I’m 19 years old and play the middle ground for a Champion League team so it’s clear there are many good international players here. There are many good players I compete with, but I have played many good games already so they (Celtic) are very positive, he says.

“My situation is very nice. I have an extremely good workout and take great steps. I feel I have performed many good matches on the U21 national team, so it’s great to know that you are in good development.”

Ajer was the last signing of Ronny Deila but by the time his move was completed Rodgers had taken over.

The Irishman almost instantly switched the 6 foot 5 Norwegian teenager from midfield to central defence.

After playing for Celtic in the Development League and in the UEFA Youth League he went on loan to Kilmarnock where he earned impressive reviews under Lee Clark and Lee McCulloch.
