All quiet at Ibrox

After 15 days of excitement, expectation and anticipation Sevco have admitted that they haven’t spoken to anyone about their managerial vacancy.

Over the last week Derek McInnes’ arrival at Ibrox has been described as imminent from some sources but it appears that reality is finally hitting home with Graham Murty in for a long run as caretaker.

Killing off hopes of a new manager being appointed the company tonight stated: “THE Club confirms that since the departure of Pedro Caixinha it has received numerous applications for the now vacant position and is anticipating further applications by the end of next week.

“The Club will then consider all viable options available to it. At this time the Club has not interviewed any candidate and will take its time to ensure that the best possible decision is made.”

Last week the company stated that they required £4m this month to stay afloat with that projection made before the sacking of Pedro Caixinha.

The fifth best coach in Qatar has still to receive the pay off on the remaining 29 months of his contract.

Any credible replacement would almost certainly require a compensation payment with Aberdeen believed to be requiring around £1m to release their management team.

With Hamilton Accies visiting Ibrox next weekend the Murty bandwagon is likely to grow although two matches against Aberdeen in the next four weeks may bring back a dose of reality.
