On a quiet international week with various club vacancies popping up TalkSPORT can’t get over the fact that the best British manager isn’t operating in their beloved EPL.

Two years ago Brendan Rodgers was getting bundled out the door at Liverpool with his glamorous continental replacement failing to get close to the achievements of the Irishman.

Tony Pullis, Mark Hughes and Sam Allardyce are the best of the current crop of British managers around the EPL with Sean Dyche a recent additions to that small group.

Hour after hour on TalkSPORT the misinformed presenters are speculating over Rodgers returning to their little bubble, a bubble that will burst one day with horrendous consequences.

Rather than battling against relegation or banging his head against Russian or Arab vanity projects Rodgers is getting on with football, footballers and management. The things that football people enjoy and got into the game for.

When it comes to money Rodgers is well rewarded. His basic salary is in excess of £2m, last season he must have racked up some bonuses as he put 40% onto Celtic’s turnover and drastically increased the value of the squad.

Apart from Mauricio Pochettino almost all of the managers in the EPL are under serious pressure. Already this season there has been four casualties, this season it could reach double figures.

Rodgers is in the first year of his four year Celtic contract, he understands and gets the club and the opportunity he has to manage.

He’ll be at Celtic for a few seasons yet, he is appreciating and enjoying life outside the suffocating EPL.

When he does leave Celtic his legacy will be incredible, and it’ll be more likely that he moves to Spain than hitches up at a mediocre club like West Ham or Everton.
