Steve McClaren is the latest name to be linked with the Sevco managers job.

The former England boss has had a series of disastrous appointments in recent times and is currently working as an adviser to Jordi Cruyff at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

According to Sky Sports sources McClaren has been contacted by a third party with the process of replacing Pedro Caixinha turning into a farce.

Last week Alan Pardew was being talked up as a candidate with failing managers using the Ibrox job to try and push themselves into the spotlight.

All the while Derek McInnes is clearly the preferred candidate from factions inside Ibrox but paying compensation to Aberdeen and having no war-chest to offer are likely to be major obstacles.

McInnes turned down the chance to manage Sunderland during the summer with the job description at Ibrox just as miserable and unappealing.

With Graham Murty winning back-to-back matches the decision can be delayed but with four games against Aberdeen, Celtic and Hibs in the final five weeks of the year the honeymoon for the former Reading defender could come to a shuddering halt.
