Between them Steven Thompson and Billy Dodds picked up £675,000 in EBT payments from Rangers (IL). If they doubt that figure they can put things right with their BBC paymasters.

On Friday night, after watching Sevco lose 2-1 at Dundee the only thing that Thompson and Dodds could share was pain.

Having contributed to the downfall of the old club they are partly to blame for the current position of the tribute act.

Nine points behind Celtic with a game more played, trailing Aberdeen and Hibs, out of Europe and the Betfred without a whimper and managerless for a month!

The reality of life in 2007 without Lloyds TSB and illegal EBT payments is a surreal one for the BBC pundits to deal with as their post mortem on Friday night revealed.

Shortly after the defeat at Dundee Thompson said: “Rangers lack direction, they lack quality, the players on the pitch. I think that the support are lacking belief just now, we don’t know if they lack finance. Lack is a great word for Rangers at this moment in time.”

Dodds, whose EBT was for £190,000 which he initially denied to Radio Scotland, added: “I will give you another lack- mental strength as well, to go and do something about it. It’s rudderless, you can see it, the players are just looking at one another and saying ‘I ain’t going to do it’ well ‘I ain’t going to do it’. It has to be sorted quickly.

It must be frustrating for the fans, having years of being taunted by Celtic fans, and it’s not getting any better.”

Indeed it’s not. The joy of Celtic’s midweek defeat from PSG lasted 48 hours, the December fixture list for Sevco fans looks brutal with the clock ticking down towards the date they dread, December 30.
