Celtic’s youth side enjoyed a rare domestic match today and demolished Alloa Athletic 8-0 in the SFA Youth Cup.

Tommy McIntyre’s side won the trophy last season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Sevco at Hampden and started the defence of the trophy in style today.

Celtic’s recent schedule has covered Bayern Munich and Atletico Bilbao with the First Division side unable to cope with the quality of their visitors.

Kerr McInroy opened the scoring in the second minute with Jack Aitchison doubling the lead in the 21st minute after good work from Euan Henderson.

Aitchison put Celtic three in front before the interval with Calvin Miller getting the first of his hat-trick two minutes into the second half with Aitchison and Mikey Johnston substituted soon afterwards.

In the last ten minutes Stephen Welsh and Henderson completed the scoring as the young hoops took their first step towards a return to Hampden.

CELTIC: Doohan; Bell, Welsh, Deas, Miller; Hill, McInroy; Johnston (Caffrey 52), Hendry, Henderson; Aitchison (Savoury 52)
