Goals from Mikey Johnston and Jack Aitchison earned Scotland a 3-3 draw with Armenia yesterday to keep alive hopes of reaching the elite stage of the u-19 European Championships.

Two seasons ago Scott Gemmill left Johnston out of the Scotland squad at the u-17 finals in Azerbaijan but Donald Park was grateful for the bhoy from Stepps who scored twice against Armenia.

Johnston equalised for Scotland in the 47th minute but Armenia regained their lead in the 55th minute when Vahan Bichakhchyan scored for the second time past Sevco ace Aiden McAdams who recently lost six goals to Leicester in a glamour friendly at Ibrox.

Aitchison equalised in the 64th minute with Johnston netting a penalty five minutes later but McAdams conceded another goal in the 78th minute to leave both sides with a point.

After beating Luxembourg 3-1 in their opening match a draw against the Czech Republic will ensure Scotland progress although they could still go through on four points depending on results in other groups.

Celtic defender Robbie Deas was also in the Scotland side.
