Aberdeen dismissed Sevco’s interest in Derek McInnes with a blunt one line statement last night.

Following a five week campaign to undermine the club an offer finally arrived at Pittodrie seeking permission from Sevco to speak to their management team.

It was hardly unexpected with the request publicly declined.

After weeks of pressure on Aberdeen the ball is now in Sevco’s court with their favoured media outlets claiming that a £1m compensation offer is in place.

That will be news to Sevco auditors Campbell Dallas who warned of a £4m shortfall for the season and the Court of Session who were told that King is penniless.

The reality of the £1m compensation offer is that £200,000 is likely to be up front with the remainder dependent on Sevco reaching the group stages of the Champions League.

Having opened up a dirty war Sevco can expect Aberdeen to repeat those tactics.

Every aspect of the offer from King will be leaked to humiliate and expose the South African based criminal.

After back-to-back wins over Aberdeen Graeme Murty can expect to enjoy an extended stay in the dug out accompanied by the ‘Gers Won’t Be Held to Ransom’ and ‘Del Denied Dream Move’ headlines.
