Bruno Alves has admitted that he may have to quit Ibrox.

The veteran defender is hoping to keep his place in the Portugal squad for the World Cup Finals in Russia and can’t afford to miss out on first team football.

After picking up a suspension Alves struggled to get back into the Sevco side with Young McCrorie and Danny Wilson forming an impressive defensive partnership.

With the manager that brought him to Ibrox no longer at the club Alves could be on the move next month despite signing a lucrative two year contract.

I always respect decisions, I am a professional and I also respect all the other players who are fighting for the position,” he told The Sun. “But I have my own ambition. I am still playing for the national team and I need to play.

We have a World Cup soon and I need to play and be fit, to try and be there.

This is important for me. Not just to help Rangers, but I also want to help myself to go to the World Cup. I am an ambitious person. I like to play.

If I don’t play here, I need to think about my future or about what’s going to happen next.”

Alves was back in the Sevco side today that beat Ross County 2-1 after falling a goal behind.

After the match Owen Coyle was highly critical of referee Euan Anderson denying his side a late penalty.

The win keeps Sevco ahead of Aberdeen on goal difference in the race for second place.
