Some fans seem to think that the pressures of maintaining an unbeaten run stretching back 68 matches is becoming too much of a burden but the main issue at the moment is the sheer weight of fixtures.

Cramming almost a quarter of the SPFL fixture list into December on the back of 12 European matches is some schedule but the price of success for Brendan Rodgers and his squad.

The hoops boss has shown that he isn’t afraid to shuffle his squad around with the recent 5-1 win over Motherwell achieved despite making six changes to the A-team.

That fixture provided a very obvious dividend with Odsonne Edouard showing that there are now three rather than two contenders for the role of solo striker.

The midweek matches against Hamilton and Partick Thistle are obvious fixtures to rotate the squad a little which gives match experience to some fringe players and respite to regulars.

After the Hamilton match we have another spell of three matches in seven days bookended with games against Hearts and Aberdeen that will require full strength and refreshed players to maintain and extend the gap at the top of the table going into 2018.

CALVIN MILLER

Give KT a break, let him enjoy the next two midweek matches with his mates in the stand and keep him fresh for the weekend games against Hearts and Aberdeen.

Miller was outstanding away to Kilmarnock earlier in the season but hasn’t featured since with KT a model of consistency.

Having an able deputy for Tierney shouldn’t be overlooked with Miller showing the same qualities that allowed KT to hit the 100 appearance mark as well as captaining club and country.

EBOUE KOUASSI

Opportunities have been very limited with Scott Brown a fixture in the centre of the park.

The young midfielder from the Ivory Coast put through an outstanding pass foe Leigh Griffiths to convert against Kilmarnock and will want to build on that contribution.

Big things were expected from the only January signing, facing Hamilton and Partick Thistle in consecutive midweeks can help him launch his Celtic career in 2018.

MIKEY JOHNSTON

His game has progressed significantly over the last 12 months to force his way into the thoughts of Brendan Rodgers.

Has made a good impact in his two top team appearances and is capable of excelling against a defensive minded Hamilton side.

Having someone full of tricks and invention will be needed with the bonus that Johnston can give James Forrest a breather.
