Moussa Dembele is winning his battle to face Anderlecht on Tuesday.

The striker was the victim of a brutal attack from Cedric Kipre early in the Betfred Cup Final and will miss tomorrow’s match against Motherwell.

With striking options limited Brendan Rodgers would love to have Dembele and Leigh Griffiths available for the clash with the Belgian champions.

Anything better than a 3-0 defeat will see Celtic qualify for the Europa League with all the indications pointing towards the Frenchman being fit and ready for Tuesday’s match.

Moussa was out on the pitch on Wednesday and Thursday, although not with the team,” Rodgers told The Sun.

He and Nir Bitton were out with the rehab team so we’ll see how he is tomorrow – but he’s got a good chance for Tuesday night.

Just from looking at him over the last couple of days and reports from the medical team I’d say he has a good chance.”

Leigh Griffiths replaced Dembele at Hampden and was in from the start against Motherwell at Fir Park with Odsonne Edouard on the bench.

Rodgers may be tempted to start with Edouard against Motherwell although it’s more likely that he’ll go with Griffiths and hope to take him off in the second half.

With just three days between the games against Motherwell and Anderlecht it’s likely that a number of regulars will be rested for tomorrow’s SPFL clash.
