Less than three weeks after taking charge of Celtic’s 1-1 draw at Motherwell Willie Collum will be the man in the middle for Sunday’s Hearts v Celtic match.

The Tynecastle fixture has traditionally been one of the most explosive in the game with the poisonous nature of the atmosphere highlighted in 2011 when a Hearts fan was cheered after attacking Neil Lennon. Hearts escaped punishment for the incident.

Collum came under fire after awarding Celtic a late penalty but after initial hysteria a video clip from a different angle showed that Callum McGregor had been fouled.

Since that match the Lanarkshire based whistler has had just two matches which highlights the shallow pool of officials for the top fixtures.

In his last Hearts match, away to Ross County on October 14 Collum handed out eight yellow cards and sent off Connor Randall of Hearts.

Frank Connor, who was the North Stand assistant at the Celtic v Inverness Caley Thistle Scottish Cup semi final in 2015, will assist Collum at Tynecastle.
