Stephen Craigan feels that Sevco will struggle to find a manager to match Dave King’s recruitment criteria.

At the AGM the South African based criminal explained that he would be looking to appoint someone currently in a job with experience of Scottish and British football.

All the signs pointed to Derek McInnes but with the Ibrox club unable to put together the compensation fee required talks quickly came to a halt.

That rejection triggered a furious response from Ibrox with the appointment of a new manager pushed back into the new year.

Finding a second choice manager to take over a club riddled by financial problems and bloated expectations will be no easy task as Craigan explained to BT Sport: “Club chairman Dave King proclaimed at the recent AGM that the candidate had to have prior knowledge of Scottish football, which pointed quite clearly towards Derek McInnes. Will that now change? Has he marginalised the search?

A few other points of interest for the potential new manager are; who will pick the incoming players, the manager or the Director of Football Mark Allen? What is the budget to improve the team? Finally, what are the short, medium and long term goals based on that budget? They must be realistic within an achievable timescale.

I’m genuinely not sure they’ll be able to tempt a manager who is currently employed, due to the uncertainty surrounding my previous points, so it may have to be someone out of work, a manager with no baggage or cost.”

Sevco today announced that ‘lifelong fan’ Barry Scott has joined the board of directors which has prompted speculation that Dave King may soon be forced to hand over his 13% stake in the company.
