Sevco’s hopes of a January cash boost have been killed off by the sacking of Mark Warburton.

Nottingham Forest have seen through the former city trader quicker than the Ibrox club and sacked Warbo and star spotter Frank McParland this morning.

A 1-0 home defeat from Sunderland yesterday, with Aiden McGeady scoring the only goal, forced the Forest board into action with Warbo sacked nine months into a two and a half year contract.

During the summer Warbo paid out £450,000 to sign Barrie McKay from Sevco and has recently been linked with moves for Wes Foderingham and Lee Hodson.

Sevco are looking to cut their wage bill during the January transfer window and are unlikely to be difficult to deal with as they frantically cut costs to stay afloat.

A £4m funding deficit was identified in the accounts to June 2017 but the serverance costs of Pedro Caixinha and failure in the Europa League will have seen that figure spiral.

Billy Davies is among the early favourites to take over at the City Ground.
