Ladbrokes say ‘sorry’ to Aberdeen

Ladbrokes have issued the sort of half hearted apology usually reserved for politicians bewildered by the offence that they have caused.

The SPFL sponsor were happy to join in the Ibrox engineered fun on Sunday when they tweeted that Derek McInnes would be celebrating his side going a goal down to Sevco.

That sort of banter might be ok for Billy in Kilwinning or Robert in Larkhall but it’s a different matter when a key SPFL partner wants to appeal to that market.

The tweet was quickly deleted but the cat was out the bag, the motivation of the SPFL sponsors had been exposed.

Rather than a proper apology the Evening Express report the bookie stating: “We apologise for any offence caused.

The tweet was intended to be a harmless joke, but we understand why it may have caused offence and it has now been deleted.”

Fans of other clubs in Scotland look forward to more harmless jokes when Sevco go into administration.

There were no harmless jokes from Ladbrokes when Sevco failed to make Progres beyond the first qualifying round of the Europa week in the first week of July.

The SPFL haven’t commented or moved to distance themselves from the Ladbrokes tweet.
