Sevco have handed control of transfer over to a guy who used to be MTV’s Managing Director!

Mark Allen moved to Ibrox in the summer as Director of Football and has still to conduct an interview with anyone outside of the club’s own media outlets.

Twenty years ago Celtic were being panned on a daily basis for having former commentator Jock Brown involved in transfers but it seems that the quiet man from MTV will have the final say on Sevco’s winter ‘war-chest’.

After 13 years with the music station Allen moved to the Manchester City and worked his way up to Academy Director but left under a cloud after City were hit with a year long signing ban for tapping up a 15 year old and 11 year old from other clubs.

During the summer transfer window Allen swooped to snap up Aaron Nemane from Manchester City with the highly rated winger expected to return south next month.

Explaining Allen’s transfer role Graeme Murty told The Sun: “Our recruitment department and Mark are now looking at targets. They are looking at players with the characteristics required to play for this club.

I’m not involved in identifying targets, I’m involved in identifying characteristics and areas of the squad we need to strengthen.”

After the club AGM last month Dave King told RTV that there would be money to spend in January.
