Ally McCoist believes that Derek McInnes will have reservations over moving to Ibrox.

Today looks like being a vital one in the long running saga after the current Aberdeen boss spent Wednesday in talks with Stewart Milne.

McInnes has mishandled the situation almost as badly as Sevco with only the most gullible of Aberdeen fans likely to accept him returning to the home dug out at Pittodrie.

Despite the hype and spin a move to Ibrox is likely to be career suicide for the former Bristol City boss as he faces the same issues that saw Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha quit within a calendar year.

Speaking to Alan Brazil on TalkSPORT about McInnes this morning McCoist said: “He will have one or two doubts and rightly so.

It is clearly not the ideal situation, the timing to get the Rangers job but I think that Derek will be weighing everything up.

He will have one or two doubts, there must be a lot going on in his head. The relationship that he has with the board at Aberdeen, he’s done a good job at Aberdeen but he has played for Rangers, he is a Rangers supporter, so it is a big decision to make.”

It’s unclear who McInnes would hold talks with at Ibrox with Dave King back in his beloved South Africa.

The recruitment committee that hired Caixinha hardly covered themselves in glory while Director of Football Mark Allen appears to have the same profile as former England youth team skipper Jordan Rossiter.
