In-between missing training and meeting with Stewart Milne yesterday Derek McInnes decided to make a phone call to Kris Commons!

The former Celtic midfielder was on duty at Pittodrie on Sunday and mentioned his surprise that McInnes had forgotten his team changes during an interview with Sky Sports.

While others skirted round the issue Commons explained that the Dons boss could easily have killed off the speculation of a move to Ibrox rather than complaining about the constant links to Ibrox.

After watching his side lose 2-1 to Sevco McInnes criticised Commons in a post match interview- clearly aware of what was being said in the Sky studio in the build up to an important match.

Yesterday on Radio Scotland Commons revealed just how concerned McInnes is about his media image.

I spoke to Derek today,” the former Celt said. “He had nothing but good things to say to me.

He thought I was out of order because he thought I questioned his professionalism and the fact his mind wasn’t on the game.

I did not try to portray that he wasn’t professional or that he didn’t understand his team.

I just thought it was strange with the circumstances.”

McInnes isn’t expected to take Aberdeen training today with Paul Sheerin and Barry Robson expected to take media duties ahead of tomorrow’s match away to Dundee.
