After six weeks of waiting Sevco have been snubbed by Derek McInnes.

Around 5.30pm tonight Chris McLaughlin and STV Sport both tweeted that the Aberdeen boss had turned down the chance to move to Ibrox.

The decision is a major humiliation for the Ibrox club who have been manager-less since Pedro Caixinha was binned six weeks ago.

Initially the tribute act claimed that they would review applications before Dave King decided that he wanted a manager currently under contract.

That led to even more intense speculation linking McInnes to the vacancy with Aberdeen rejecting a request to speak to the former Rangers (IL) midfielder on Tuesday.

McInnes has missed training for the last two days but after killing off interest in the Sevco job he has a major task trying to win back Aberdeen fans dismayed by back-to-back defeats from the Ibrox side.

Graeme Murty thought that the gig was up at Pittodrie on Sunday but will now remain as caretaker as the South African based criminal turns his attention to Neil McCann or Tommy Wright to lead the people into 2018.
