Derek Ferguson was left fuming as the Sevco board failed to secure Derek McInnes as manager.
‘Scandalous, embarrassing and clueless’ were a couple of the words used by the former Rangers (IL) midfielder as he was put on the spot by Radio Scotland.
Despite five years of watching utter dross at Ibrox it seems that the modern reality of a club unable to call on the Bank of Scotland or tax dodges has still to sink in.
Delusions from the Murray days at Ibrox are going to smother the tribute act to death with the reality that managing Aberdeen is a better gig than it’s Ibrox equivalent hard for the people to take on board.
Articulating his thoughts to the state broadcaster Fergie said: “I think it is a bit embarrassing. A club of the stature and the size of Rangers Football Club, to be six weeks without a manager, it’s not good enough.
“And the reason I’m saying that is because, being a player, at times players look for excuses. And they’ve got the biggest excuse of all, that they have not got a manager there to answer to.
“The directors just look clueless at the moment. There’s been no clarity. We heard at the AGM that Mr King said they were looking at certain people in employment. Well, it’s not worked out and it’s not good enough. Is he going to take another six weeks? It’s scandalous.”
“I thought emotion would have played a part, looking at Derek being a Rangers supporter and playing for the club as well. I thought that would have played a huge part in it.
“I’m absolutely stunned because I thought it was a gimme as soon as Rangers were pursuing him. When Derek wasn’t at training, I thought there was only going to be one outcome.”
Until someone explains to BBC Scotland pundits the grave finances at the club, the background of Dave King and the ramifications of the Takeover Appeal Board it seems that they are in for further pain and disappointment.
Buying into the massive club delusions pumped out by club statements is only going to lead to further anger and disillusionment with Sevco slipping further and further away from Celtic and the number that Ferguson dreads- T-E-N.
