Joe Thomson has returned to Queen of the South on loan.

The midfielder had a brief spell on loan at Livingston at the start of the season but turned out as a 66th minute substitute yesterday as Queens lost 3-2 at Falkirk in the Championship.

Discussing the signing Palmerston boss Gary Naysmith said: “I’m delighted to have Joe back with us.  He has been training with us this week and has fitted in well again; he was a big hit with the supporters the last time he was with us and I’m sure they will be as happy with the news as I am.

“His return gives us more options in the middle of the park and he’ll provide a challenge for those already here”.

Thomson has been a regular in the Celtic Development side since returning from Livi but is well down the pecking order for a top team place.

Under Ronny Deila he made one top team appearance as a substitute away to Dundee United but his loan move will be to help him find a new club.

Thomson came through the ranks at Celtic alongside Liam Henderson but it now seems certain that both midfielders will be moving on to continue their careers.

Henderson is out of contract at the end of the season and was recently linked with a move to Italian Serie B side Bari.
