‘Crocked’ Sevco ace Bruno Alves is a transfer target for Serie A strugglers Benevento.

According to a report in The Sun the 36-year-old defender is currently recovering from a calf injury in Portugal but it’s no secret that Sevco would love to ditch his hefty wages.

Alves was one of Pedro Caixinha’s key summer signings but has failed to fill the boots of Clint Hill who was released in the summer and snapped up by Carlisle United.

Having played in Serie A last season for Cagliari Alves wouldn’t take long to adjust to the Italian game despite being plagued by injuries at Ibrox.

Sevco have already anticipated his departure with Russell Martin brought in on loan to add strength and experience to Graeme Murty’s defence.

Benevento are unlikely to match Alves’ two year contract at Ibrox but a loan deal would make a significant reduction to the companies crippling wage bill.

Sevco striker Ryan Hardie, who is out of contract at the end of the season, joined Livingston on loan yesterday.
