Airdrie have parted company with Director of Football Gordon Dalziel over his radio commitments.

The former Ayr United boss was drafted in to help the Lanarkshire side just over a year ago but wasn’t available for Saturday matches due to his commitments with Radio Clyde.

Airdrie fans were unhappy that a key employee was unable to attend Saturday matches with a new regime taking over at the League One club today.

Since Clydebank relocated to Airdrie in 2000 following the liquidation and death of Airdrieonians there has been a number of problems and changes of ownership.

Former Aidfrieonians manager Bobby Watson leads the fan backed Airdrie Diamonds company with Dalziel one of the first casualties of the new regime.

Tonight the club stated: “We can confirm that Gordon Dalziel has left the club by mutual consent.

With the club under new ownership, training is now reverting back to Excelsior Stadium for evening sessions through the week. Unfortunately Gordon’s evening commitments with Radio Clyde don’t allow him to commit to both.

Gordon came into the club under difficult circumstances and everyone at the club thanks him for his hard work and professionalism. We all wish him well for the future.”

Airdrie are currently in sixth place in League One, four points short of a promotion play off place and seven above the relegation play off place.
