Even Kris Boyd is slaughtering Sevco’s policy of unsettling SPFL clubs by making public their low-ball bids for players.

The former Sevco striker can usually be relied on to back anything from Ibrox and famously claimed that Celtic’s 5-1 win over Sevco early last season wasn’t a reflection of the gulf between the sides.

Ahead of Boyd picking up the Ladbrokes Player of the Month award, and his manager Steve Clarke the manager’s award, news emerged of a £350,000 bid for Killie winger Jordan Jones.

With 17 months left on his contract Kilmarnock are in no rush to sell the Northern Ireland internationalist with the Sevco offer following the pattern used to unsettle Scott Allan, Jamie Walker, Derek McInnes and Greg Docherty.

It pretty much sums it up as there’s a common theme the whole time,” Boyd explained in The Sun.

There is one club unsettling everybody. If they want players, then pay the money and come and take them.

We all know how football works. If a deal has been agreed and Jordan is happy with it, then go and pay the price to the football club.

Jamie Walker was the exact same. There’s a list — and we could go on and on.

Calls have been made and yet nothing has been backed up to do something about it. Pay the money and take the players if you want them.

It’s easy to unsettle players now. Everyone knows everyone and we all know how it works, but this club is in no position where it needs to sell.

And it certainly won’t give away one of its assets for next to nothing. If Rangers want Jordan, then they will need to pay the money to get him.”

Sevco have still to spend a penny in the transfer window with loan deals bringing in Jamie Murphy, Jason Cummings and Sean Goss. Russell Martin is expected to be the next loan signing.
