Sevco appear to have pulled off a financial miracle over Carlos Pena’s move to Mexico- according to the Daily Record.

At the end of last month the midfielder gave an interview in Mexico stating that he would be seeing out his lucrative contract following his £3m summer move to Ibrox.

Last week Cruz Azul, managed by Pedro Caixinha, opened negotiations to sign Pena with director of football Eduardo de la Torre quoted as saying that it was a deal very beneficial for the club.

Over the weekend there were reports that Sevco would be paying half of Pena’s wages while he was out on loan but out of the blue the Daily Record has turned the deal into a money-spinner for the Ibrox side!

This morning Record readers have been informed: “Rangers are set to recoup their cash on flop Mexican marquee signing Carlos Pena.

Pedro Caixinha’s new club Cruz Azul have agreed to pay his weekly wage of £20,000 in full until the end of the season.

They’ve also agreed to fork out almost £2 million to make the transfer permanent this summer if he impresses on his return to his homeland after six miserable months in Scotland.”

The proof of the deal will be seen during the remainder of the transfer window with Sevco apparently freeing up £20,000/week in wages.

Apart from Pena there seems no interest in Caixinha’s Ibrox signings although it is expected that James Tavernier and Josh Windass will return to England towards the end of the transfer window.
