Brendan Rodgers was giving nothing away last night other than stating that Celtic will sign a goalkeeper today.

Different names appeared throughout the day with Trevor Carson and Scott Bain both featuring strongly.

It seems that it is too late in the window to bring in a genuine first choice keeper with that task likely to be addressed in the summer.

Finding a reliable keeper to joust with Dorus de Vries for the gloves seems to be the task with agents happy to supply the Celtic boss with a supply of available names,

We want to bring in another goalkeeper but there’s been lots of names fired at us,” Rodgers admitted to the Daily Record. “We will have one in by end of play.

I could sit here all day and go through the names but he (Bain) is one of many mentioned. We want a goalkeeper that fits our idea of how we play. That’s important.

Whoever comes in has to be able to play with his feet and build the game, but, most importantly, make saves. Ideally we’ll have a goalkeeper and one other.”

De Vries didn’t do much wrong last night and looked confident in everything that he did.

Teenager Ross Doohan was on the bench with last week’s choice of four keepers cut in half by the knee injury to Gordon and Conor Hazard going out on loan to Falkirk.

Celtic beat Hearts 3-1 to go 14 points clear at the top of the table thanks to goals from Odsonne Edouard, Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele.
