Brendan Rodgers will be very disappointed if Celtic are unable to add at least one new player before the transfer window closes next week.

A creative ‘number 10’ style player is high on the Irishman’s wanted list with one week remaining to do business.

So far Marvin Compper and Lewis Morgan have been added to the squad with Rodgers and the club working hard to complete more business before the transfer window closes.

I’d be very disappointed if we didn’t,” the Celtic boss admitted when asked if fans could expect a creative player arriving this month. “I think that it is something that we need to do.

The people behind the scenes are working very hard in terms of trying to bring in the type of players that we want to bring in.

We could have had 20 players in here if we went with the players that are put to us and players that are good but we need quality. We need players that can make a difference, not just domestically.

We need extra quality in our squad for European competition. That doesn’t come about so often but we are working very hard to try and find that. We have to take our time to get the right ones and when the right ones are available.”

While he attempts to bring players in Rodgers is also trying to manage Moussa Dembele to the best of his ability.

According to assistant manager Chris Davies the young striker is interested in playing elsewhere but so far no bids have been received for the former Fulham striker.

Dembele has been left on the bench for Celtic’s wins over Brechin City and Partick Thistle with Leigh Griffiths coming on at half time last night to secure the points that send Celtic 11 points ahead of Aberdeen.
