Sevco won’t be able to shift Bruno Alves from their wage bill this month.

According to a report in The Sun the veteran defender has informed the club that his calf injury will keep him out of action until late February.

Alves has looked injury prone throughout this season and lasted just 18 minutes of last month’s Glasgow derby.

Sevco have managed to ship out Carlos Pena to Mexico for a year but are believed to be still paying £10,000 per week towards his wages.

Attempts to offload Eduardo Herrera have drawn a blank with Graeme Murty reduced to bringing in players on four month loan deals.

Bids for Jordan Jones of Kilmarnock and Hamilton’s Greg Docherty have both been rejected.

In a bid to balance the books James Tavernier and Josh Windass are expected to be sold towards the end of the transfer window.
