Sevco are trying to raise £1m by selling Eduardo Herrera!

According to a report in The Sun the striker is the subject of interest from Celtic’s partner club Santos Laguna.

With two goals from 22 matches, mainly as a substitute, Sevco have no chance of getting money back on the highly paid striker who is under contract until 2020.

Herrera, who cost £1.5m from UNAM, was one of the most hyped of Pedro Caixinha’s summer signings but six months after getting a work permit is surplus to requirements. Earlier this week Carlos Pena returned to Mexico on loan with Sevco paying half of his wages.

With their financial problems laid bare last week in Jamie Murphy saga Sevco will almost certainly be kept waiting until the end of the transfer window to offload any players.

Offers are likely to come in for Josh Windass and James Tavernier leaving the Sevco board to choose between selling their better players or to continue ignoring the growing pile of invoices.
