St Mirren are hoping to sign Mark Hill as part of the deal that will see Lewis Morgan become a Celtic player.

A transfer in the region of £300,000 is expected for the Saints winger this week that will see him immediately return to the Paisley side on loan.

Central midfielder Hill is in his third season in the Celtic Development side but hasn’t made any inroads towards the first team with Saint Mirren able to offer him a realistic chance of top team action.

Celtic beat off competition from Manchester United to sign him from Hamilton Accies in 2012.

During pre-season Hill spent some time training with Kilmarnock but returned to sign a three year contract with Celtic.

St Mirren are currently five points clear of Dundee United at the top of the Championship and are desperate to win promotion after last season’s fight against relegation.

Jack Ross is rated one of the best young managers in Scotland with Saint Mirren knowing that they might struggle to keep hold of him if they fail to win promotion to the top flight.

Jamie McCart has returned to Celtic after a three month loan to Saint Mirren.
