Erik Sviatchenko is on his way out of Celtic- and back to Danish side Midtjylland.

Despite a day of speculation linking the defender with a move to Southampton a report in The Sun claims that the Danish side have called a media conference tomorrow morning to announce Sviatchenko’s return.

The move will be a loan and give the 26-year-old the chance to prove his fitness after being out of action since the start of August.

Despite recovering from injury Sviatchenko failed to get any game time even though Brendan Rodgers tried out various central defensive combinations.

Ronny Deila paid £1.5m for Sviatchenko in January 2016 but after an impressive first year 2017 was virtually a write off.

With the Danish league starting next month Sviatchenko will have the chance to prove his fitness ahead of a permanent summer move as well as trying to force his way into the Danish World Cup squad.
