Neil Lennon is ready to axe Anthony Stokes just six months after luring him to Hibs.

According to a report in The Sun the Easter Road boss has grown fed up of disciplinary problems involving the former Celtic striker who is under contract until June 2019.

Stokes missed a match against Hamilton due to disciplinary issues and was put on a separate training schedule alongside Danny Swanson and Martin Boyle after breaking a curfew during the recent trip to Portugal.

Lennon and Stokes had a fractured relationship during four years together at Celtic held together by a mutual respect for each others ability.

The Sun claims: “It’s understood Lennon — his patience with the attacker all but exhausted — is now ready to send him on his way with the Easter Road board also increasingly unhappy with a steady stream of negative headlines over one of their best-paid stars.”

The development comes on the eve of Hibs facing Hearts at Tynecastle in the Scottish Cup with the newly promoted side sitting fourth in the table after winning promotion last season.

Charlton and a Polish club are reported to be interested in taking Stokes on loan until the end of the season.
