Sevco are hoping to dump Carlos Pena back in Mexico.

During the summer ‘Gullit’ was billed as the playmaker to spearhead Sevco’s title challenge but since arrival he has barely lasted 90 minutes with questions raised about his fitness and lifestyle.

According to a report in The Sun a reunion with Pedro Caixinha at Cruz Azul is on the cards although ‘there’s work to be done’ before the deal goes through. Similarly Sky Sports report that there is work to be done on the deal to sign Jamie Murphy from Brighton.

There’s no doubt that Sevco would love to move Pena on but with a three year contract there’s no chance of the midfielder going cheaply.

In a rare interview granted to a Mexican newspaper last week the £3m signing spoke about seeing out his contract.

Cruz Azul wouldn’t be able to get close to matching Pena’s Ibrox wages but towards the end of the transfer window a loan deal could be arranged with Sevco left paying the bulk of the player’s wages.
