Debut defeat for Stokes

Anthony Stokes had a disappointing debut for Apollon Smirnis with his new club losing 2-0 away to Kerkyra.

The striker was released by Hibs at the end of the January transfer window and signed for the Cyriot outfit until the end of the season.

Stokes had scored seven goals in 15 Premiership starts for Hibs but fell foul of Neil Lennon during a week long winter break in Portugal.

Saturday’s defeat saw Apollon slip into second bottom place in the 16 team Super League with two sides relegated at the end of the season.

Over in Italy Liam Henderson played for an hour as Bari won 1-0 away to Cremonese to move into fifth place in Serie B.

The 21-year-old moved to Bari in January despite interest from Preston and Hibs where he won the Scottish Cup with Stokes in 2016.

In Denmark Erik Sviatchenko has helped Midtjylland to back-to-back victories over Horsens and Copenhagen taking them three points clear of Brondby at the top of the table.
