Van Dijk and Wanyama star in Anfield thriller

Two former Celts dominated the headlines alongwith Harry Kane and Liverpool and Spurs shared four goals and an incredible finale to the match at Anfield.

Liverpool, leading 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Mo Salah, were trying to see the game out when Victor Wanyama struck an incredible 25 yard shot into the net just a minute after coming on as a substitute.

Seven minutes later Harry Kane saw his penalty saved with Liverpool using that boost to go in front through a brilliant strike from Salah.

The drama wasn’t finished with Spurs awarded a second penalty deep into stoppage time when Virgil van Dijk barged into the back of Erik Lamela with Kane making no mistake with his second penalty of the day to notch his 100th goal in the EPL..

Wanyama and van Dijk both made their way from Celtic to Southampton for fees in the region of £12m with their hoops careers overlapping by a month in 2013 before the midfielder made his way to St Mary’s.
