Celtic will be without Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths for another month.

Armstrong had a hernia operation after the winter break in Dubai while Griffiths pulled up with a calf strain in the 1-0 win over Hibs on January 27.

Both players had a major role in last season’s treble success but the hoops will have to do without the duo over the next few crucial weeks.

Stuart has now stepped up the intensity of his training,” Rodgers told The Scotsman. “Maybe over the course of the next couple of weeks, he could be back working with the main first team group but I think it’s probably going to be after the international break at the end of March before he can play again.

Leigh has now seen a specialist about his calves and what-not. Of course, even when he can get back on to the training field, he needs to get fit. So that’s going to be an extended period for him, ?really.”

After tonight Celtic will have just one match a week which should help the depleted squad who have been playing almost every midweek since July with Griffiths and Armstrong also Scotland regulars.

Patrick Roberts is in line to play a part against Dundee after being out since October with a hamstring knock with Marvin Compper close to making his debut after signing for RB Lepzig.

Dedryck Boyata should resume full training early next week and be available for the March 11 visit to face Sevco at Ibrox.
