Celtic’s Europa League exit to Zenit St Petersburg has sparked a number of fierce debates.

Many of those voicing an opinion can be dismissed as gloating in misfortune having suffered over 18 months in which the hoops have suffered only two domestic defeats.

With four trophies collected the hoops are on course for back-to-back trebles but this today there aren’t many fans happy with the direction that the team is taking.

Last season’s unbeaten treble is without doubt a high point unlikely to be matched but even allowing for that there has been an alarming drop in form this season.

James Forrest, Scott Brown and Kieran Tierney are virtually exempt from criticism but it’s hard to state a case for anyone else being in better form this season than last.

Sunday’s match with Aberdeen will provide a telling guide as to exactly where Celtic stand, a win would suggest business as usual domestically, anything less is bound to be the catalyst for more questioning.
