Graeme Murty is treading on thin ice but talking up his relationship with Neil Lennon.

Regardless of what happens at Ibrox hating the Irishman will always be well received among Sevco supporters.

After watching Celtic lose to Kilmarnock on Saturday Sevco fans piled in to watch their favourites on Saturday expecting to cut the gap on Celtic and put one over on Lennon as a nice bonus.

Following a defeat from Hibs earlier in the season Club 1872 issued a statement about the undignified behaviour of the Easter Road boss who had revelled in his side’s 3-2 win.

Falling further behind Aberdeen and watching Lennon celebrating again was too much to take for many Ibrox fans but Murty took comfort from the praise he received by the victorious manager.

Talking to Neil Lennon and his staff after the game he was really impressed with us, which I suppose is really easy when you’ve won the game,” the Ibrox caretaker told the Evening Times.

He thought they were out on their feet and he was grateful to get the penalty because he thought the atmosphere was amazing and our fans were great.

Neil was telling me that after the game, that he thought we would have gone on and won it. Gary Parker was the same, they were really worried, and they thought we were very good in the second half.”

It’s highly doubtful that Lennon thought that the home fans were great but a long term contract for Murty is off the menu after he oversaw his third Ibrox defeat since taking over from Pedro Caixinha.
