Graeme Murty has praised Alfredo Morelos as stories of an £11m transfer and wages of £60,000/week tax free continue to circulate.

On the back of Celtic making the loan signing of Charly Musonda a mystery Chinese club made a £7m offer for the Sevco striker which would be subject to a 100% tax surcharge by the Chinese government.

After Celtic beat Zenit 1-0 on Thursday night Beijing Renhe were ‘back in the race’ for Alfie with the bid reaching £11m, plus 100% tax, on Saturday morning.

It had been expected that the players agent would be holding talks with Stewart Robertson, Mark Allen and Murts last week but so far there has been no sign of a new deal for the former HJK Helsinki starlet.

Morelos scored his 12th Premiership goal of the season in the 5-3 win over Hamilton Accies but according to Murts the striker’s approach hasn’t been effected by the thought of a tenfold pay rise.

Alfredo is focused on himself and he showed great energy and enthusiasm against Hamilton,” the Sevco chief told The Sun.

I haven’t had a chat with him about it, but I haven’t had to. He knows our position and his position.

You have seen in the games since the bid came in, against Ayr and Hamilton, that he’s been an integral part of things.

There is more to come from him and hopefully he sees a pathway to where he wants to go to with our club.”

Morelos is under contract until 2020 and is believed to be on a wage of around £7,000 a week which is £20,000 less than Bruno Alves collects and a distance behind Eduardo Herrera.
