No go Morelos

The prospect of Alfredo Morelos joining Fenerbahce can be dismissed in three letters- FFP.

For football clubs out-with Scotland those letters stand for Financial Fair Play which is aimed to prevent the sort of economics enjoyed at Ibrox where a club with a £29m turnover in the year to June 2017 have been able to rack up losses totalling £20m in the three previous seasons.

The Daily Record and Scottish Sun have both picked up on a report from Fotopor that mentions Morels in a list of potential Fenerbahce signings.

Fenerbahce have been in a long running dispute with UEFA and have agreed to reach break-even by season.

After claiming to have turned down an £8m bid from China for Morelos it seems incredibly unlikely that that ‘bid’ will be topped by Fenerbahce.

If they wanted an uncapped 21-year-old they could snap one up from HJK Helsinki or in Columbia rather than splash the cash for a player that shares striking duties with Jason Cummings and struggles to understand the offside rule.

Despite last week’s apparent interest in Morelos there has been no indication that contract talks are about to begin for the confused striker who is believed to be on around £7,000/week on his current Ibrox deal.
