Stuart Robertson has told The Sun and the Daily Record that rumours of Sevco going into administration are nonsense.

Robbo, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland, seems to be speaking in direct contrast to the company accounts which contained a going concern warning when they were published in November.

With the three bears refusing to provide any more soft loans the survival of Sevco is entirely dependent on Dave King’s New Oasis Asset Limited coming up with the goods.

According to the accounts, audited by Campbell Dallas, £4m is needed to complete this season with that calculation made before axing Pedro Caixinha and the January signing spree.

Robbo has kept a low profile since backing Caixinha then Graeme Murty to manage the club but broke his silence to give an exclusive interview to The Sun.

There were all the rumours in January that the club was going into administration and it was nonsense,” he explained to readers of The Sun.

The investor base is there. We have fantastic financial support.

A decent example of that came with the Morelos bids being rejected.

Some folk raised eyebrows at that, but that’s a sign that we’re trying to grow something and take the club forward

We want to compete year on year at the top of the game again. We’re not saying we won’t sell him eventually because we do recognise recycling players in the player-trading model is a key part of the business plan going forward but we’ll do that when it’s on our terms rather than on the terms of a potential buyer.

Hopefully the fans take a bit of comfort from that. As a board, we have a duty to consider offers for players if and when they come in and that’s what we did with the offers for Morelos.

We gave it serious consideration, but on balance, on the level where discussions got to, we felt we should stick with what we had.

Listen, the Chinese transfer window is still open until the end of February, so who knows what’s around the corner but as things stand today there’s nothing new on the table and we’re looking at a situation where Alfredo is with us until the end of the season at least.”

According to Murty he was responsible for dealing with the Morelos ‘bid’ which was turned down entirely for football reasons.

At their 2017 AGM the Ibrox board were given permission to go ahead with a share issue but so far there are no signs of an issue being prepared.

When Murty was unveiled as the manager until the end of the season Robbo claimed that the Takeover Appeal Board ruling that King was part of a concert party was a matter for the South African based criminal and not the club/company.

Should an insolvency event occur on his watch the current Ibrox MD will have some awkward questions to answer to ICAS with today’s comments completely at odds with the club accounts.
