Following the excitement of the transfer window and briefly getting into second place reality returned to Ibrox yesterday as Hibs won 2-1 to burst the bubble.

Celtic’s 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock had sent expectations sky high with millions tuning in worldwide to ‘Rangers TV’ as well as 50,000 inside Ibrox to pour out their hatred for Neil Lennon and Scott Allan.

After 90 minutes of torture the grim reality was that the tribute act had lost at home for the fifth time this season with Graeme Murty responsible for three of those losses.

Despite being badly depleted by injury Lennon’s side were more organised, when John McGinn opened the scoring belief flowed through the visitors that they could record their second win of the season at Ibrox.

Even an impressive equaliser from Sean Goss failed to dent the resolve of the Edinburgh side who included Efe Ambrose and Dylan McGeoch as well as loan signing Allan.

Within two minutes of equalising Sevco found themselves a goal down with Jamie MacLaren scored from the penalty spot after James Tavernier pushed Allan over on the touchline.

Hibs survived the final 15 minutes without any real threat to goal as Lennon celebrated another win at the ground where he is so detested.
