Smith set to say no to Scotland

|

The frenzy to appoint Walter Smith as Scotland manager appears to have ran aground.

On Monday morning the former EBT Supervisor seemed poised to dig out the cardigan but this morning both the Daily Record and The Sun are reporting that the ‘deal’ is now on ice.

The timescale of the story has parallels to ‘bids’ for Alfredo Morelos from mystery clubs in China.

It seems that no one from the SFA has managed to get around the table to discuss terms with the veteran former Rangers (IL) boss while the finger of blame is being pointed at Alan McRae and Rod Petrie.

Smith has been out of management since walking out on Rangers (IL) in 2011 with Ally McCoist taking over and leading the club into liquidation.

Charles Green did convince him to take up a non-executive director role prior to a Sevco share issue in December 2012.

On 30 May 2013 Smith became Sevco chairman to oversee season ticket sales, on August 5 he walked away from his job as chairman.
