Yesterday the Celtic internet celebrated the seventh anniversary of the Broony.

When Scot Brown curled his shot around Allan McGregor few could have guessed the impact of what happened next.

Turning to El Hadji Diouf with his arms outstretched the midfielder’s stock immediately soared among the Celtic support.

It was more than a goal, it was a statement in every way. The Glasgow derby had been a fantastic spectacle with ten man Celtic dominating the second half as Neil Lennon taught Ally McCoist (Rangers (IL) manager for cup ties) a lesson that inspired the away support.

Rather than sit back Celtic went on the offensive with full-backs Mark Wilson and Emilio Izaguirre combining to create the chance for Brown.

The replay became the thing of legend and legislation as Diouf and his team mates lost the plot while Wilson took the spotlight with a rare goal.

While the legislation was unwelcome the season ended with Brown raising the Scottish Cup at Hampden- who could have guessed the success he was about to enjoy over the coming years as Celtic dominated despite paying HMRC on time and in full.

FRASER FORSTER

Was sent off shortly before half time with Lucasz Zaluska’s first touch being to pick the ball out of the net from a Steven Whittaker penalty.

Forster was suspended from the replay but was soon back in the side picking up his first winners medal in the 3-0 win over Motherwell at Hampden.

Celtic arranged another loan spell for the 2011/12 season before the move was made permanent, following the Champions League matches against Barcelona he earned a place in the England squad followed by a move to Southampton.

MARK WILSON

Was in the best form of his career at this time, slinging in the cross from the right that Emilio Izaguirre used to tee up Broony for that goal.

The replay certainly proved memorable with Wilson playing a neat one-two with Sasa Papac before striking the only goal of the game.

He went on to help Steven Craigan score in the final at Hampden but afterwards his career went downhill with spells at Bristol City, Dundee United and Dumbarton before settling into the role of media pundit.

DAN MAJSTOROVIC

Enjoyed a few good days at Ibrox and did his job as Neil Lennon’s oldest signing, joining up after a contract dispute at AEK Athens.

He was short on pace but long in experience and made a significant contribution as Lennon’s side came together.

Unfortunately injury the following season ended his Celtic career and denied him the chance to play at Euro 2012.

After Celtic he had a short spell with AIK Solna and now works as a football agent.

CHARLIE MULGREW

Like Mark Wilson, Mulgrew was running into great form that continued over the following three seasons as he collected all the domestic honours.

He crowned his season by scoring from a great free kick in the cup final win over Motherwell at Hampden and was Player of the Year in 2011/12.

His Celtic career nose dived under Ronny Deila but after relegation last season he seems to be a key factor in Tony Mowbray’s bid to take Blackburn back into the Championship.

EMILIO IZAGUIRRE

Was in fantastic form throughout the season, cutting the ball back expertly for Brown to score his iconic goal.

Sadly he never recovered his best form following an ankle break early the next season but left Celtic with six title winning medals.

Life seems sweet and highly rewarding in Saudi Arabia, the £600,000 spent to bring him from Honduras represented fantastic value.

SCOTT BROWN

The top man has gone from strength to strength, back then he’d sometimes play on the right of midfield with Joe Ledley, Beram Kayal and Ki Sung Yueng in the centre.

His goal was an absolute cracker which is often overlooked as the celebration is er celebrated.

The 2011 Scottish Cup win was his first as captain, there has been a good few more trophies since and every chance that there will be another two this season.

JOE LEDLEY

Was probably the quietest of Lennon’s 2010 signings but no less effective.

He sent through the defence splitting pass that allowed Georgios Samaras to open the scoring in the festive fixture then scored the derby goal in December 2011 that edged Celtic in front with the Ibrox club finishing the season on the brink of liquidation.

Ledley missed the cup final win over Motherwell due to injury but left the club with a few winners medals and has impressed at Crystal Palace and Derby County.

BERAM KAYAL

The ‘Sultan’ was in his element at this time with suggestions that he was being watched by Alex Ferguson.

Like Ledley he missed the Scottish Cup Final through injury but never quite recovered his form with Victor Wanyama edging him out of the first team.

At Brighton he helped them to promotion to the EPL but has rarely featured this season in Chris Hughton’s team.

KI SUNG YEUNG

Had a storming performance at Ibrox, dominating the middle of the park as ten man Celtic took complete control.

He opened the scoring in the final against Motherwell and was always capable of the spectacular.

There was only one more season for Ki at Celtic Park before a £6m move to Swansea, with his contract up at the end of the season there has been rumours that he may link up again with Brendan Rodgers

KRIS COMMONS

It was quite a day at Ibrox for the former Nottingham Forest man, he equalised the opener from Jamie Ness but was substituted after Fraser Forster was sent off.

Commons was an inspired signing at £300,000 but had two very quiet seasons in-between scoring some very valuable and important goals.

His days were numbered under Ronny Deila, although he hasn’t announced his retirement his media role seems to be one he is very uncomfortable in.

GARY HOOPER

Another of the inspired signings from 2010, Hooper scored whatever the opposition and competition getting close to 100 goals in three seasons as a Celtic player.

His partnership with Anthony Stokes plundered goals for fun but when it came to the bigger matches Hooper tended to be supported by Kris Commons or Georgias Samaras.

His career stalled after leaving Celtic but he’ll be set up for life after lucrative moves to Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday.

LUCASZ ZALUSKA

It wasn’t easy coming on to face a penalty but other than that strike from Whittaker the Pole was barely threatened.

He was a virtual spectator in the replay and sat on the bench at Hampden as Celtic beat Motherwell to lift the cup.

He was very content to be back up to Artur Boruc and Fraser Forster before moving on to enjoy spells with Darmstadt 98 and Wisla Krakow before joining Pogon Szczecin last summer.

GEORGIOS SAMARAS

Had scored twice at Ibrox in December but had to wait until the 62nd minute to get into the action when he replaced Beram Kayal.

He was to win a Scottish Cup medal at the end of the season with his Celtic career splitting supporters in two.

Season 2012/13 saw the former Manchester City man highly influential in the Champions League but he has gone through a number of clubs since leaving Celtic in 2014.
