A week ahead of the visit of Zenit St Petersburg the importance of the matches cannot be over-estimated.

With major changes afoot in the Champions League Celtic are currently in an unseeded spot for the final qualifying round of next seasons competition- assuming that they win the SPFL Premiership.

At the moment PSV Eindhoven, PAOL, Ludogorets and RB Salzburg will be the seeded teams in the final qualifying round.

With PSV Eindhoven and PAOK out of European competition Celtic have the chance to push them out of the seeded places.

Working out the coefficients is best left to a small group of experts but it’s likely that one draw with Zenit would be enough to get Celtic a seeded spot, qualifying for the last 16 would certainly achieve that.

A win over Anderlecht in the Champions League would have been enough to put Celtic into the top four clubs in the Champions Route but the Europa League carries the same coefficient points.

PSV are currently seven points clear in Holland, PAOK are two points ahead in Greece, RB Salzburg are the same distance in front in Austria with Ludogorets a point ahead in Bulgaria.
