MURTY MANIA came crashing down to earth today as Hibs beat Sevco 2-1 at Ibrox today.

It was the fifth time this season that Sevco season ticket holders have watched their heroes turned over with Graeme Murty responsible for three of those defeats.

Neil Lennon proved to be the master tactician as his injury ravaged side made it a double as they moved to within two points of third place.

With Celtic losing 1-0 to Kilmarnock delusions were at fever pitch before the kick off at Ibrox with Paul Gascoigne there to witness his first ever match involving the tribute act.

Hibs had a goal mysteriously disallowed by Willie Collum early on in the match but in the 41st minute John McGinn opened the scoring.

When Sean Goss equalised with a free kick in the 73rd minute it looked like there would be a happy and glorious finish to the match but that idea was kicked into touch when James Tavernier needlessly pushed Scott Allan to the deck.

Loan striker John McLaren sent his shot straight down the middle into the net with the home fans booing their heroes off the park at the final whistle.

With Aberdeen beating Hamilton 3-0 Sevco now trail Derek McInnes’ side by six points in the race for second place.
