Mikey Johnston will be out of action for the remainder of the season.

The 18-year-old ripped a thigh muscle with the early verdict that he won’t be fit again until the summer.

Johnston was given his first team debut at home to St Johnstone last season just after his 18th birthday and has made four appearances this term, the last one as a substitute against Brechin in the Scottish Cup.

With Jonny Hayes also out for the remainder of the season Patrick Roberts is the only back up winger for Scott Sinclair and James Forrest but the Manchester City loanee hasn’t played since November.

Celtic have virtually a full team of players currently out injured with Kris Ajer and Dedryck Boyata the most recent additions to that list.

Anthony Ralston came through today’s SFA Youth Cup win over St Johnstone with Marvin Compper pencilled in for a debut against St Johnstone on February 18.
