Celtic fans reacted with a mixture of amazement and glee at Barry Ferguson’s take on their 3-2 win at Ibrox on Sunday.
The former Clyde boss claimed that Brendan Rodgers got lucky with the hoops befitting from going down to ten men when Jozo Simunovic was sent off.
Ferguson’s article was based around a number of ‘if’s’ which seemed to suggest that he totally fails to understand the purpose of football. Finding the winning team over 90 minutes of action.
Most pundits acknowledged that the game was much closer than Celtic’s three previous wins at Ibrox but that Rodgers’ side deserved to come out on top.
The reaction of both managers to Simunovic’s sending off had a telling impact on the game with Rodgers reacting quickly and decisively.
After settling his defence Odsonne Edouard was introduced and scored the decisive goal.
That sort of decision making and qualifying for the group phase of the Champions League justify the salary and bonus that Rodgers collects.
Murty’s indecision explains what at the age of 39 Rodgers took Liverpool to second in the EPL while he was arranging the cones and bibs for the Norwich youth side.

I rewatched the first half last night. Other than a 10 minute spell after their second goal Rangers were second best all over the pitch. Celtic dominated it. How Ferguson is still allowed to write about football I’ll never know. A cheerleader and a puppet looking for a job?

…. There are 2.5M reasons why he’s still allowed to write about football. – The EBTs he transferred to his wife before declaring bankruptcy and his need to prove his “indebtedness” to the hun support in the hope of a job in future

Hmmm. This is what I call ‘luck’. Penalty in every game on the planet (except at Ibrox where it’s for Celtic). Sevco were very lucky the officials were ‘blind’ for large parts of the game pic.twitter.com/vr7eCrquUb

Barry is of course correct, Celtic were lucky that all our players were better than all their players.
— StMiley (@StMiley) March 16, 2018
nonsense. the game was won and lost on decisions made by managers and players. Rangers had 35 minutes to reorganise themselves when Celtic went down to 10 and still only mustered 2 shots in target.

So in his heed we were lucky cos their players can’t defend properly! All 3 goals were great finishes, none took massive deflections or a boyata style error! Only but of luck they had was Morelos hitting the post, even the thats no luck he’s just pish

The worst article ever written for the worst paper ever printed. What a magnificent double act

Dear me Barry, you generally write some decent stuff, but this is blurred with tears..everything went for him? What, a sending off? He quite clearly stated he fancied his two on two up front and went for it, that’s a real coach. Too many ‘what if’ in this, facts are it was 2-3.

Rangers are the lucky ones, imagine the damage we’d have done if jozo hadn’t been sent off

Embarrassing read ????. As bad as Warburton last year saying if Celtic lost more and Rangers won more the gap wouldn’t be 25 points ????????

Celtic were lucky Rangers had home advantage and a man advantage and aren’t very good. Also the Celtic subs were lucky nobody threw an ice-pack at them in a wee tantrum eh Barry?
— Hugh Moan (@weeshug72) March 16, 2018
Genuinely one of the worst articles I’ve read. Celtic were lucky certain Rangers made the wrong decisions during the game? That’s not luck! It’s also very insulting to the Rangers players involved.

I wonder why Barry failed at Clyde. I hate Celtic as much as anyone, not a fan of Rodgers either, but it’s plain to see he’s a far better manager than Murty, and he changed things when they went down to 10 men.
